Before you start

Procedure

  1. Remove the spring retainer. be reassembled to the same depth after repair.
  2. Remove spring.
  3. Remove ball or follower and ball.
  4. Start pump to “flush” dirt from the seat area. (Caution: divert oil into a con- tainer. Do not look into the port).
  5. Inspect the ball for damage and replace if necessary.
  6. Reinstall bal! or ball and follower.
  7. “Seat” the ball using a small drift punch and hammer with a light tap.
  8. Reinstall the spring.
  9. Replace the spring retainer to the correct depth.
