Fault codes

16
CodeNameMeaningSeverityAction
AFHigh Temperature FaultAmbient temperature is too high; cooling fan has failed (if equipped).ShutdownCheck ambient temperature and cooling fan.
CFControl FaultA blank EPM, or an EPM with corrupted data has been installed.ShutdownPerform a factory reset using Parameter 48 - PROGRAM SELECTION.
dFDynamic Braking FaultThe drive has sensed that the dynamic braking resistors are overheating and shuts down to protect the resistors.Shutdown
EFExternal FaultTB-13A and/or TB-13C is set as an External Fault input and TB-13A and/or TB-13C is open with respect to TB-2.ShutdownRefer to Parameter 10 and/or 12.
F1EPM FaultThe EPM is missing or damaged.Shutdown
F2-F9, FoInternal FaultsThe control board has sensed a problem.ShutdownConsult factory.
FLFollower LostIf a 4-20 mA signal is used as a speed reference, PI setpoint reference, or PI feedback, and the signal drops below 2 mA, the drive will trip and display FL.Shutdown
GFData FaultUser data and OEM defaults in the EPM are corrupted.ShutdownRefer to Section 13.2.
HFHigh DC Bus Voltage FaultLine voltage is too high; deceleration rate is too fast; overhauling load. For fast deceleration or overhauling loads, dynamic braking may be required.ShutdownConsider dynamic braking for fast deceleration or overhauling loads.
JFSerial FaultThe watchdog timer has timed out, indicating that the serial link has been lost.Shutdown
LCFault LockoutThe drive has failed three restart attempts and now requires a manual reset.ShutdownPerform manual reset as described in Section 16.0.
LFLow DC Bus Voltage FaultLine voltage is too low.Shutdown
OFOutput Transistor FaultPhase to phase or phase to ground short circuit on the output; failed output transistor; boost settings are too high; acceleration rate is too fast.Shutdown
PFCurrent Overload FaultVFD is undersized for the application; mechanical problem with the driven equipment.Shutdown
SFSingle-phase FaultSingle-phase input power has been applied to a three-phase drive.Shutdown
UFStart FaultStart command was present when the drive was powered up. Must wait 2 seconds after power-up to apply Start command if START METHOD is set to NORMAL.ShutdownWait 2 seconds after power-up before applying Start command when START METHOD is NORMAL.

Procedures

4
Programming the SpinMaster Plus Drive with Buttons and Display adjustment
  1. Press Mode to enter PROGRAM mode; the password prompt appears if the password has not been disabled.
  2. Use L and M to scroll to the password value (factory default 225) and press Mode.
  3. Use L and M to scroll to the desired parameter number.
  4. Press Mode to display the present parameter setting; the upper right decimal point blinks.
  5. Use L and M to change the setting.
  6. Press Mode to store the new setting and exit PROGRAM mode.
  7. To change another parameter, press Mode again within two minutes; the password is not required.
Tuning the PI Control adjustment
  1. Set Integral Gain (Parameter 65) to zero.
  2. Increase Proportional Gain (Parameter 64) until the system becomes unstable.
  3. Lower the gain until the system stabilizes.
  4. Set Proportional Gain about 15% less than the value that stabilizes the system.
  5. Adjust Integral Gain to force steady-state error to zero; use care to avoid overshoots.
  6. Use PI ACCEL/DECEL (Parameter 66) to filter setpoint changes and reduce overshoot.
Installation After a Long Period of Storage maintenance

⚠ Severe damage to the drive can result if it is operated after long storage or inactivity without reforming the DC bus capacitors.

  1. Verify whether input power has been absent for more than three years.
  2. Apply input power to the drive for 8 hours prior to operating the motor.
Initial Power Up and Motor Rotation operation

⚠ Do not connect incoming AC power to output terminals T1, T2, or T3.

⚠ Wait three minutes after disconnecting incoming power before servicing the drive.

  1. Disconnect the driven load from the motor.
  2. Verify input terminals L1, L2, and L3 are wired to the proper input voltage per the drive nameplate.
  3. Energize incoming power; the display flashes a parameter version then reads '---' for STOP.
  4. Use the M button to decrease the speed setpoint to 00.0 Hz.
  5. Give the drive a START command.
  6. Use the L button to increase the speed setpoint until the motor starts to rotate.
  7. If rotation is wrong, STOP, remove power, wait three minutes, and swap any two motor wires at T1/T2/T3.
