  • No AC output
Cause: Exciting coil insulation NG (PX12000)
Fix: Replace exciting coil with new one
  • AC voltage is nominal at no-load, but load cannot be applied
    Cause: Engine speed is low
Fix: Adjust to the rated rpm
  • AC Voltage is too high or too low
Cause: Engine speed too high or too low (nominal engine speed at no load; 3,700 to 3,750 rpm)
Fix: Adjust to the rated rpm
  • Engine does not run — Electric starter does not operate
Cause: The key switch (or remote switch) is turned to "START" within 2 seconds the engine has been stopped
Fix: Wait for more than 2 seconds and then turn the key switch to "START" position

Procedures

9
GFCI Receptacle Test diagnostic

⚠ If the RESET button pops out during operation, stop the generator immediately and call a qualified electrician.

  1. Push the blue TEST button; the red RESET button will pop out exposing TRIP.
  2. Power is off at the protected outlets, indicating the GFCI is functioning properly.
  3. If TRIP does not appear, do not use the generator; call a qualified electrician.
  4. Push RESET to restore power.
3-Phase Application Power Cable Connection installation

⚠ Do not touch output terminals while the generator is running.

  1. Shut down the generator before connecting or changing power cables.
  2. For three-phase 208V, insert the plug into receptacles X, Y, and Z.
  3. For single-phase 120V, insert the plug into W and X, W and Y, or W and Z.
  4. Maximum one-third of generator output can be utilized from each phase.
Connecting to Domestic Circuit installation

⚠ All connections must be made by a licensed electrician.

⚠ Failure in connection may result in death, personal injury, damage, or fire.

  1. Take generator output power from the 240V-4P receptacle.
  2. Install a transfer switch between the meter and the fuse or AC breaker box.
  3. Ground the generator ground terminal if the house neutral wire is grounded.
  4. Turn the house AC breaker off before starting the generator.
  5. Start the generator and warm it up.
  6. Turn the house AC breaker on.
Alternator Disassembly repair

⚠ The stator is heavy. Be careful not to hit the stator coil against the rotor.

Tools: piece of lumber, soft hammer

  1. Remove the end cover.
  2. Remove the brush cover and the brush holder.
  3. Take off the two flange-nuts and lift the front cover with a piece of lumber.
  4. Lift the front cover until the rear cover removes from the mount rubber.
  5. Remove the rear cover.
  6. Remove the bushing.
  7. Remove the stator cover.
  8. Remove the stator.
  9. Loosen the through bolt of the rotor.
  10. Remove the rotor with a soft hammer.
  11. Temporarily tighten the through bolt of the rotor when hitting the rotor.
  12. Remove the front cover.
Control Panel Removal repair
  1. Remove the front panel.
  2. Disconnect the connectors on the wiring from the front panel to the alternator.
Front Cover Assembly repair
  1. Attach the front cover to the engine main bearing cover.
  2. Match the faucet joint and tighten the bolts.
Rear Cover Assembly repair

⚠ There are two kinds of brush holders; if a brush is installed oblique to the slip ring, the brush holder or brush can break.

Tools: plastic hammer, tester

  1. Put the rear cover with stator and stator cover over the rotor; pull wires out from the rear cover.
  2. Attach the bushing over the lead wire drawn out from the rear cover; press the smaller end into the rear cover window.
  3. Tap the rear cover evenly with a plastic hammer to press the rotor bearing into the rear cover.
  4. Fix the rear cover with four bolts, spring washers, and washers.
  5. Install the brush holders in the rear cover; pass mounting screws through the brush holders.
  6. Push the brush holders so the brushes are perpendicular to the slip rings, and tighten the screws.
  7. Attach the connectors to the brush holders; connect the green wire to the stator end and the brown wire to the bearing end.
  8. Install the brush cover.
  9. RGV13100T only: attach the end cover to the rear cover.
  10. Tighten the nuts over the mount rubber bolts to fix.
  11. Fasten the earth cable to the unpainted bolt hole on the frame.
Rotor Assembly repair
  1. Wipe off oil, grease, and dust from the tapered engine shaft and matching tapered hole of the rotor.
  2. Mount the rotor to the engine shaft.
  3. Tighten the through bolt.
Stator Assembly repair
  1. Put the stator in the rear cover, setting the four grooves on the side of the stator with the thread holes of the rear cover.
  2. Tighten the four bolts tentatively to check alignment of grooves and thread holes.
  3. Remove the four bolts.
