Adjust Start and Stop Delays adjustment
  1. Press the button next to the word ADJUST in the Main Menu. The VOLTAGE submenu will appear.
  2. Press the button next to the '>>' to move through the VOLTAGE and FREQUENCY submenus to the START DELAY submenu.
  3. Use the buttons next to the '⇑' and '⇓' symbols to set the start delay. The start delay adjustment range is 0 to 300 seconds.
  4. From the START DELAY submenu, press the button next to the '>>' to move to the STOP DELAY submenu.
  5. Use the buttons next to the '⇑' and '⇓' symbols to set the stop delay. The stop delay adjustment range is 0 to 600 seconds.
  6. From the STOP DELAY submenu, press the button next to the '>>' to move to the SAVE/EXIT submenu. Select SAVE to save your changes.
  7. At the CHANGES SAVED submenu, select EXIT to return to the Main menu.
Adjusting Start/Stop Delays (PCC Adjust Menu) adjustment
  1. Press button next to ADJUST in Main Menu to display VOLTAGE submenu
  2. Press button next to >> to move through FREQUENCY submenu to STOP DELAY submenu
  3. Use buttons next to arrows to set start delay, range 0 to 300 seconds

Axial Alignment Procedure (Aligning Generator with Engine) adjustment

Tools: Dial indicator holding device with magnetic base or clamp

  1. Fasten a dial indicator holding device to skid base, engine block, or generator shell.
  2. Position the indicator sensor point on the generator shaft hub.
  3. Bar the engine over in a clockwise rotation through a couple of rotations.
  4. Record indicator readings in eight equally spaced points around the shaft diameter.
  5. To correct out-of-tolerance T.I.R., remove drive disc capscrews and mark discs and flywheel.
  6. Rotate engine or generator so drive disc holes are repositioned 180 degrees from original location.
  7. Reinstall capscrews and retorque; recheck alignment.
  8. If T.I.R. is unchanged, rotate discs 30, 60, or 90 degrees from original location.
Converting Day Tank Controller from 120 VAC to 240 VAC adjustment
  1. Remove jumpers between TB1-5/TB1-6 and TB1-7/TB1-8; connect two jumpers between TB1-6 and TB1-7
  2. Move selector switch S103 on control PCB to down position for 240 VAC
  3. If equipped with transformer, remove jumpers between H1/H3 and H2/H4 and connect two jumpers between H2 and H3
Converting Day Tank Controller from 240 VAC to 120 VAC adjustment
  1. Remove two jumpers between TB1-6 and TB1-7; connect one between TB1-5/TB1-6 and one between TB1-7/TB1-8
  2. Move selector switch S103 on control PCB to up position for 120V
  3. If equipped with transformer, remove jumpers between H2/H3 and connect H1/H3 and H2/H4
Voltage and Frequency Adjustment adjustment

⚠ Improper calibration or adjustment of the PowerCommand control can cause equipment malfunction or damage. Calibration and adjustment must be performed by technically qualified personnel only.

Tools: Calibrated RMS multimeter (Fluke 87 or 8060A)

  1. With the genset OFF, attach a calibrated frequency/voltmeter to the AC output from L1 to L2.
  2. Select ADJUST from the Main Menu to display the VOLTAGE adjust menu.
  3. Start the genset and allow it to reach normal operating speed.
  4. Adjust VOLTAGE so that the calibrated voltmeter reads the desired voltage.
  5. Select the Frequency adjust menu and verify/adjust frequency to the desired value.
  6. Select EXIT if no adjustment was made; if an adjustment was made, SAVE then EXIT.
Generator/PCC Control Isolation Procedure diagnostic

⚠ HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE. Touching uninsulated parts inside the control housing and power output boxes can result in severe personal injury or death.

⚠ This test involves unregulated excitation; make sure all loads are disconnected and all faults cleared.

Tools: True RMS meter, Jumper leads

  1. Throw the line circuit breaker OFF and shut down the set.
  2. Remove plug 10 from connector 10 of the voltage regulator output module (A37).
  3. Prepare to measure output voltage across generator terminals while the set is running.
  4. Connect jumpers from a 12 volt battery to X (Field +) 10-6 red and XX (Field -) 10-3 brown.
  5. Check polarity again; opposed polarity makes this test inconclusive.
  6. Start the set and connect the battery negative (-) to the XX lead.
  7. Rated or higher balanced voltage indicates generator circuitry is probably okay.
  8. If unbalanced, troubleshoot main stator first; if uniformly low, troubleshoot exciter and field circuits first.
Ground Fault Alarm Relay Test diagnostic
  1. Verify that the N-G Fault Indicator on the GFR is not lit. If lit, it indicates that the bonding jumper circuit (neutral to ground) is open. If genset does not require bonding jumper, a bonding jumper
  2. Move the control switch to the Run position.
  3. Press the TEST switch on the ground fault relay.
  4. Verify that the control panel warning message is displayed and the Fault Indicator (>I) on the GFR is lit.
  5. Reset the control panel fault (this will also reset the ground fault relay).
Rupture Basin Leak Detect Switch Test diagnostic
  1. Remove the pipe fitting/switch assembly from the rupture basin tank.
  2. Move the O/Manual/Auto switch to the MANUAL position.
  3. Activate leak detect switch (move float upward).
  4. Check control display for Rupture Basin fault message.
  5. If no indication of fault, repair defective circuit.
  6. Apply thread sealant to pipe fitting and install switch assembly.
Testing the Float Switch Assembly diagnostic

Tools: Ohmmeter, Feeler gauge

  1. Remove the fuel pump control cover, disconnect the wiring jack and unscrew the assembly from the top of the day tank.
  2. With an ohmmeter, test for continuity between each pair of colored leads while holding the assembly vertical.
  3. Replace the assembly if any switch is open (all readings should be zero).
  4. Lift each float in turn to 1/8 inch (3 mm) below the C-clip stop and test for continuity.
  5. Replace the assembly if any switch does not open (all readings should be infinity).
  6. Use pipe thread sealant when replacing the assembly.

  1. Verify N-G Fault Indicator on GFR is not lit; install bonding jumper at facility service entrance if required
  2. Move control switch to Run position
  3. Press TEST switch on ground fault relay
  4. Verify control panel warning message is displayed and Fault Indicator on GFR is lit
  5. Reset the control panel fault, which also resets the ground fault relay

  5. Voltages should be approximately the same for each set of leads.
  6. Stop the set and measure resistance across the same lead pairs.
  7. Refer to Table 6-3 for resistance values and Generator Reassembly for frame size.
