Subaru EX40 Engine

• Water leaks from brass valve on pump.
  Cause: Thermal Relief Valve opening to protect pump.
  Fix: Do not run washer with gun trigger closed for more than 3 minutes. Trigger gun to close valve.
• Water inlet screen obstructed.
  Fix: Remove screen, clean or replace.
• Water flows from nozzle when trigger is released.
  Cause: Gun malfunction.
  Fix: DO NOT USE!! See your John Deere dealer.
• Water flows back into detergent container.
  Cause: Detergent valve jammed, missing or corroded.
  Fix: See your John Deere dealer.
• Vent in gas cap plugged.
  Fix: Clean vent or install new gas cap.
• Too many high pressure hose extensions attached to outlet.
  Cause: Maximum.
  Fix: Use only one extension hose
• Throttle lever not in run position.
  Fix: Move throttle lever up to run position.
• Strainer obstructed.
  Fix: Inspect, clean or replace.
• Spark plug wire loose or disconnected.
  Fix: Connect spark plug.
• Spark plug not gapped correctly.
  Fix: Check and set spark plug gap.
• Spark plug failed.
  Fix: Install new spark plug.
• Siphon hose cut, obstructed or kinked.
  Fix: Inspect, clean or replace.
• Pump sucking air. (Pump prime lost.)
  Fix: Tighten all water intake connections. Eliminate leaks in intake line.
• Pump shuddering and flattening of the supply hose
  Cause: Attempting to operate the washer with less than adequate water supply
• Pump oil is white or milky color.
  Cause: Water in oil.
  Fix: Change oil. Avoid directing water spray at pump.
