Tools: Voltmeter, Frequency meter

  1. Stop generator set; disconnect engine starting battery, negative lead first.
  2. Select desired voltage connection and connect leads according to the diagram.
  3. Turn voltage, Volts/Hz, and stability pots fully counterclockwise; turn remote rheostat to mid-point.
  4. Reconnect battery; move generator master switch to RUN to start generator set.
  5. Rotate voltage adjustment pot until desired output voltage is achieved.
  6. Rotate stability pot clockwise until minimum light flicker is obtained.
  7. Adjust engine speed to desired cut-in frequency (factory setting 57.5-58 Hz for 60 Hz models).
  8. Rotate Volts/Hz adjustment pot clockwise until voltage level begins to drop.
Fuel Solenoid Linkage Adjustment adjustment

⚠ Improper adjustment may cause burn-out of the pull-in coil.

  1. Remove linkage to allow fuel solenoid plunger to be manually compressed.
  2. With solenoid fully compressed, align linkage and check injection pump lever travel.
  3. Fuel solenoid should fully compress and injection pump lever should be 1/16 in. (1.6 mm) before lever contacts internal stop.

  5. Loosen locknuts and adjust ball joint length in or out to attain proper alignment.
  6. Tighten locknuts.
Voltage Regulator Board Calibration adjustment

⚠ High voltage is present at regulator board P1 connector and terminal strip when set is running.

  3. Disconnect brush leads F1 and F2 at quick disconnect.
  4. Check brush assembly for weak springs, loose holder, sticking brushes or improper alignment.
  5. Check continuity between quick disconnect point on each brush lead and its adjacent slip ring; repair or replace if faulty.
Fast Check Connection (NFPA Controller Tray) diagnostic

⚠ See Safety Precautions before making any battery connections.

Tools: Fast Check and harness (A-291930 and 269955), Variable low voltage DC power supply, 0-50 Volt, 3 amp minimum, Stopwatch

  1. Unplug harness connector inside meter box.
  2. Connect Fast Check Harness to harness connector inside meter box (connectors are keyed).
  3. Push wiring harness connector onto plug at top of Fast Check.
  4. Move Generator Main Switch on controller to OFF.
  5. Move Fast Check engine switch to OFF.
  6. Clip red (+) and black (-) harness leads to 12-Volt battery or DC power supply.
Regulator Board Test diagnostic
